Remember when I briefly mentioned a new venture some lovely bloggers and I were launching? Well, it’s time for the big unveil! Welcome to a new blog hop featuring none other than the delicious recipes of the hostess with the mostess, Ina Garten. Ina’s Garden, as our blog hop is called, consists of 6 bloggers, April at The 21st Century Housewife, Chaya at both Comfy Cook’s Kosher Kitchen and Bizzy B. Bakes, Yummy Chunklet at Yummychunklet, Mia at Bright Morning Star, Peggy at Pantry Revisted, and yours truly. Beginning May 5, Ina’s Garden hosts will post an Ina recipe twice monthly, on the first and third Thursdays of the month. We will all bake a recipe together on the first Thursday of the month, and on the third, we will post a recipe according to a theme chosen by one of the hosts.
To introduce Ina’s Garden to you, all the hosts and I decided to give you a sneak peak and encourage you, my wonderful friends, to bake the Orange Pound Cake, which you can find on Mia’s blog, Bright Morning Star, and link up. Or, if you’ve made and blogged about an Ina recipe in the past, please feel free to link it up on this week’s linky only. All the hosts are posting this linky on their sites, so when you link to one of us, your link will appear on all the other six sites as well. This gives you the opportunity to share your blog with lots of new readers via all the host’s sites. The linky will be open until May 3, 2011, so you have loads of time to join in the fun too!
If this is your first time joining a blog hop, no worries, as it’s simple and fun!
Here’s what you do:
• At the blog hop, find a little box that reads Add your link
• Click the link, and you’ll be asked to enter the URL of your post, the name of your post, and your email. Be sure to enter the URL of your post, not the URL of your blog.
• Next, you’ll be able to choose a picture of your recipe.
• Finally, please be sure to link back to the blog host; you can be as succinct or wordy as you wish, just be sure to mention Ina’s Garden, the name of whichever log you’ve linked to, along with the URL of the blog hop post.
As a heads up, we are baking Ina’s Peanut Butter and Jelly Squares on May 5th, and we’d love for all of you to join in the fun. The linky will be open for several days, so if you don’t get to it by the 5th, you’ll have some time to bake those scrumptious bars. Also, if you’re a planner, and not a procrastinator like me, on May 19th, our theme is Pasta with Pizzazz. Start browsing Ina’s cookbooks or searching on http://www.foodnetwork.com/ for Ina’s pasta recipes.
So, onto the star of the post, the cake! When you bake this cake, your entire house will smell amazing! I was on the patio, windows open, and the aroma drifted outside. It’s that fragrant, chock-full of orange zest and orange juice. The taste? Orange-licious! An incredibly tender and buttery cake, it was delicious barely warm with a cup of tea, and the next day, the taste was a bit more orange-concentrated and just as delicious, if not more so. It would be a lovely addition to your Easter celebration; so, if you’re still on the lookout for a dessert, Orange Pound Cake is just perfect!
